Fun in the sun for Isle of Axholme families

Isle families are invited to join in a range of specially arranged activities across North Lincolnshire this summer.

More than 145 events and activities have been planned for the summer at Normanby Hall Country Park, North Lincolnshire Museum, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre and Waters’ Edge Country Park and Visitor Centre.

North Lincolnshire Council has helped to arrange everything from pond dipping and coil pot making to arts and plant pot decorating.

Everyday from 10.30am to 3pm, North Lincolnshire Museum in Scunthorpe has free themed mayhem activities running, such as Awesome Ancestors.

They also have many new gallery areas, a new changing exhibition display, the Courtyard Café and an event called Back to School Fun Day on Saturday, August 31, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

The themed weeks at the museum are as follows: Tudor week - July 22 to 26, dinosaur week - July 29 to August 2, Viking week August 5 to 9, toys week - August 12 to 16, Second World War week - August 19 to 23, Anglo Saxon week - August 26 to 30 and September 2.

Normanby Hall Country Park in Scunthorpe also has lots of fun and games.

Some of the activities children can join in are:- Pond dipping on July 24 and August 21 from 1pm to 2.45pm, a Meet the Animals event on July 25, bug hunting on August 7 and 28, Victorian wash day on August 14, children’s day on August 26 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

Visit Waters’ Edge Country Park and Visitor Centre at Barton-upon-Humber to take part in a range of workshops and activities.

Every Wednesday is entitled Wacky Wednesday during the summer holidays, which is a craft event for children, including mosaic coasters and paper flowers.

Other activities include:- Wildlife Day on Sunday, July 28, from 10am to 5pm, a Funky Fish event on Monday, August 12, at 10.30am or 1.30pm, Pottery Flowers and Bees on Monday, August 19, at 10.30am or 1.30pm,

Pottery Butterflies on Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

The 20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Scunthorpe has an array of events and fun days happening throughout the summer.

The main family events are the Summer Parade Fun Day on Saturday, July 13, National Play Day on Wednesday, August 7, from 10am to 4pm and the Holiday Stick and Splodge Specials on Thursday, August 8 and 22 from 10am to 11.30am.
