A MEMORIAL football match will be held to remember a former player who died in a car crash.

Nicholas Collins, 18, died from injuries sustained in the Bessacarr crash when the Vauxhall Vectra car he was a front seat passenger in, left the road back in April 2008.

To honour the memory of the popular Hatfield teenager, his former football club Dunscroft Welfare will be playing Stainforth FC in an under-11s encounter. The winners will receive a trophy named after Nicholas who was well-known as ‘Nico’.

It is hoped the match will become an annual event.

Everyone is welcome to match taking place on Saturday, May 19, at 11am, at the Dunscroft Welfare pitch, off Broadway.
