Firefighters rescue two people from Sheffield house fire

Two people in their 50s were rescued from a blaze at a Sheffield property last night.
The blaze broke out at around 10.30pm on Wood Lane, Stannington in a house which did not have smoke alarms.

999 operators gave survival advice to the pair, a man and a woman in their 50s until crews from Central and Rivelin stations arrived.

One was rescued from an upstairs bedroom suffering from severe smoke inhalation.

The other was led to safety.

Both casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
