Fire crews tackle spate of bin fires

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Hoyland twice in an hour after arsonists set fire to bins.

A crew from Tankersley Station first had to put out a blaze in a commercial waste bin on Hall Street at 4am last Thursday.

They then got a call 30 minutes later to deal with a fire to a clothing recycling bin on nearby Mallin Croft.

They used a single hose reel to put out the flames at both incidents.

A brigade spokesperson said both fires were started deliberately.
