ORGANISERS of an annual festival in Thorne have received a major boost after a firm agreed to sponsor the event.
Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has agreed to stump up a substantial amount of funding for the Party At The Ponds.
The company based in South Parade, Thorne, will also supply timber products such as decking, signs and fences for the event which encourages young people to take up angling.
“We always try to help worthwhile ventures in Thorne,” said Howarth’s manager John Brandon. “We are as much a part of the community as the young people in our town, and they deserve our support.”
Party At The Ponds is scheduled for the weekend of June 11 and 12 and will take place at The Delves.
Alongside a busy programme of angling, the festival will feature a number of live acts, including the top tribute act Fake That and rock band Slinky Peach.
There will also be a host of other attractions, including stalls, barbecues, cafes, overnight camping for hardened festival-goers and a number of fishing experts on hand to offer free advice.
Organiser Pete Richardson is delighted that Howarth Timber is supporting the event.
He said: “We wouldn’t be able to organise events such as Party At The Ponds without the support of local businesses.
“I appreciate that times are tough at the moment, so Howarth’s generosity really stands out. Their commitment to the young people of Thorne is really appreciated.”
