STUDENTS have been holding a series of fundraisers including a walk in sweltering heat to raise over £1,200 for good causes.
The Doncaster College team of fundraisers, which included lecturers as well as students, took on a trek around the lake at Lakeside in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The previous week the same group of students held a ‘Dress in Yellow’ day, sold homemade cakes and other tasty treats from a number of stalls at its Hub campus to support the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Student Hayley McIlwrick, 18, said: “We think they are two really good causes to support so we all put a pound in to buy all the baking ingredients and we all baked, we asked for donations and sponsorship from local businesses like Sainsbury’s and pizza places for other items to sell. In all about 30 to 40 students have taken part.”
