Win a year’s free uniform with School Trends

South Yorkshire-based school uniform supplier School Trends is giving away £150 worth of uniform to the winner of a Twitter competition.

This, on average, can cover uniform and sportswear for three primary children or one secondary child with additional items.

The #firstdayselfie competition is now open and parents using the social media platform Twitter are encouraged to tag School Trends in pictures of their children on their first days – whether starting school for the first time, returning after the summer break or starting at a new school.

To enter, follow the @SchoolTrends account, and include the hashtag #firstdayselfie, along with a picture of the youngster in question in uniform before their first day at school.

The winner will be announced on September 5.

Daran Brown, Managing Director of School Trends UK, said: “We all know how special a ‘first day’ picture is when children are all kitted out in their new uniform. They create lasting memories and we wanted to celebrate this through a competition.

“The chance to win school uniform isn’t one which should be missed – particularly because our garments are known for quality and durability.

“Above all else, though, it’s fun! It’s very exciting going back to school after the summer holidays or starting for the first time and our uniform helps create a sense of pride and identity. The competition is a perfect way to recognise this important day.”

Recent research from the Schoolwear Association shows that the average secondary school uniform including PE kit costs £127.32, and for primary it is £42.32.

The poll, of 2,000 parents, shows they typically spend more on outfits their children wear outside of school than they do on uniform, and on average schoolchildren wear their uniform for ten hours a day - nearly 2,000 hours a year.

School Trends, based in Westfield, supplies award-winning uniform to 5,000 schools and employs 135 staff. For more information visit: School Trends
