PLAY-TIME has never been so much fun at a school after £2,000 was raised to buy outdoor activity equipment.
Pupils at Thorne Moorends West Road Primary School are eager to start using their new Trim Trail set which has been expanded thanks to fantastic fundraising events.
Two of those caring fundraisers included sporty sisters Neve and Erin Taylor-Dilks, aged eight and five.
The duo completed a mile-long Junior and Mini Great North Run in September to raise £800 towards buying the activity set.
Other fundraisers have included coffee mornings, summer fairs and school discos.
New additions to the Trim Trail include log chains and a Bermuda bridge.
Jenny Cleary, a high level teaching assistant at the school, said the activity set would be up and running in the next few months.
She said: “The children can’t wait to play on it, it looks fantastic.
“We’ve had to postpone opening it up to the children because of the bad weather but once it’s ready it will teach them all about team-work, it’s somewhere for them to go at break and lunch-times and keeps them active.”
