Car unveiled by racing team at university

Sheffield Hallam University's SHU Racing team unveiled their 2016 car before they competed in the annual Formula Student race at the home of British motor racing, Silverstone, last weekend.

The team, made up of mechanical engineering students, revealed their new car at a ceremony at the university, ahead of competing at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Formula Student event, which saw more than 100 universities enter worldwide.

Will Earp, team manager, said: “All the students on the team are volunteers, balancing their studies with the commitment to the design and building of the car - 90 per cent of which is done in-house at Hallam.

“As a team we strongly believe in involving people with a range of perspectives, points of view and skills, as this creates a successful working environment.”

The unveiling took place at Sheffield Hallam in front of an audience of sponsors and other students, before the team compete at Formula Student 2016.
