The plan, which would see a tournament-quality 18-hole golf course, state of the art clubhouse and new housing built near Rossington Hall, will now be assessed by Doncaster’s planning committee.

The Rossington Hall Golf Developments (RHGD) scheme aims to deliver a quality of development that has never before been seen in South Yorkshire, complete with a course designed by Ryder Cup legend Neil Coles.

The proposal to develop almost 500 hectares of land, close to Rossington Hall and the Northern Racing College on Bawtry Road, reflects the high level of developer confidence in Doncaster, boosted by high-profile schemes like the FARRRS airport link road and the iPort development.

Director of Regeneration and Environment, Peter Dale, said: “It is great to see the next stage of the Rossington Hall Golf Developments scheme underway, with the planning application being submitted.

“These proposals emphasise Doncaster’s growing reputation as a world-class sporting venue, as a host of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire cycle race, the European Jet Sport Grand Prix and of course the famous Doncaster Cup, in its 250th year at our fabulous Racecourse.

“The ambitious plans also reflect the confidence that developers have in this area – we have shown ourselves to be more than capable of supporting large development schemes, and the local workforce has proved its ability time and time again.

“Rossington Hall has the potential to be a truly exceptional golfing venue, particularly with national motorway and rail links so close by, and Doncaster Sheffield Airport on its doorstep.”

A spokesperson for Rossington Hall Golf Developments said: “The submission of the planning application is the culmination of considerable effort that the company and its team of consultants have invested in this prestigious and exciting project, and reflects the confidence that it has in the Doncaster area.”

Doncaster Council’s planning committee will assess the application during its meeting later this year.
