Rosie said: “I am delighted that Anne has received the recognition that she thoroughly deserves, for her work to raise awareness of problem gambling, not only here in Doncaster but also in Parliament, and I was pleased to be able to nominate her for this award.”

Anne Evans has campaigned to safeguard people from problem gambling since her son took his own life at the age of 40, following a gambling addiction. Anne has taken her campaign to promote responsible gambling to Westminster, meeting MPs and gambling industry representatives to discuss measures to tackle problem gambling.

Anne is also an ambassador for the Young Gamblers Education Trust, a charity that aims to safeguard young people from problem gambling, and helped to arrange educational workshops for teachers to increase knowledge and understanding of gambling and gambling related harm to provide resources to work with students and young people.
