A Doncaster teenager is hoping to have a sweet 16th to remember as she campaigns to get pop star Gary Barlow to perform at her bash.
Doncaster’s Ami Downs says she will do whatever it takes to ensure the Take That singer is the guest of honour at her party.
Gary Barlow, also known for his work as a judge on the X Factor, has promised to perform at a selection of parties.
Ami, from Thorpe in Balne, has already launched a social media campaign using the hashtag #amiissweet16forgary
And she has even had a friend hand deliver an invitation to Gary in person at the Eddie The Eagle Premier in London.
She said: “It would mean everything to me if Gary came to my party.
“I’ve been to see Take That 14 times and I and went to see them five times last year.
“I think Gary is so inspirational. I’ve liked him since I was six.
“My mum is a big fan and she got me into Take That and I feel like they have made me and my mum closer.
“It would be the best birthday present ever.
“I’m just doing whatever I can to get his attention and my friend gave him an invite at the premier so I’m hopeful.” Last year the Take That star surprised unsuspecting brides at their weddings and has taken to Twitter promising to help dedicated followers celebrate their milestone birthdays this time around.
Ami, who will celebrate her birthday in September, said: “My friends at school think it’s silly I’m trying to get Gary there but I want to prove them wrong.” Follow Ami’s progress @amidowns3
