Plans to start major improvement work at Clay Lane roundabout have been delayed for a week, because of forecasts of snow in the borough.

Work planned on the junction will now start on Monday January 26, rather than today, January 19, and is expected to take two weeks.

The snow is forecast on Tuesday night.

Doncaster Council is to carry out the work at the junction of A630 Wheatley Hall Road/ Barnby Dun Road. This will mean closing the roundabout.

At the same time as making amendments to the roundabout, the council will carry out essential carriageway maintenance work. To do this safely a full road closure will be necessary and to minimise disruption the closure will be at night. This will take place between 7pm and 6am from Monday 26 January 2015. Closures are booked for a up to two weeks but it is anticipated that it will only be necessary for around five nights.

A signed diversion route will be in place via Trafford Way, Carr House Road, Leger Way and Thorne Road A18. Access to businesses will be maintained where possible although it may be necessary to use a different route to the norm. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Peter Dale, Director of Regeneration and Environment, said: “These are essential works and we apologise for any inconvenience. I would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
