Paul Dickov has offered to meet with any disgruntled fans and explain the club’s plans for the future.

In his final pre-match press conference of the season yesterday, the Scot fronted up to fans’ criticism and said he fully expects to remain in charge of Rovers next season.

“Keep backing us,” was Dickov’s message to his doubters.

“If they’re disgruntled with me, I’ve got no problem sitting down and having a chat with them,” he continued.

“Then they’ll know what the plans are.

“Just don’t direct it at the players. Take it out on me.

“I think you’re [the local media] making a big thing out of it and the majority of our fans are fantastic,” he added. “The majority of them have been great with me as well.”

Earlier Dickov said: “I don’t think there will be a change of manager. In fact I’m pretty sure there won’t.

“The board have been really receptive about what I want to do next year. They’re fully behind me and I don’t think I should have to justify that because I think people within the club know that.”

Doncaster’s poor home form is a stick that Dickov has been beaten with by some fans and he is determined for his side to end on a high against Scunthorpe tomorrow.

He said: “If we win that’ll give us a fantastic chance of finishing in the top half but more than anything else we want to finish the season well in front of our own fans.

“I know I’ve been getting a bit of stick off some recently but as a whole they’ve been fantastic all season and stuck by us.

“I think the majority of them realise the situation we’ve been in this year. We want to finish well to thank them.”
