Rovers supporter Neil Taylor has put a signature of striker Curtis Main inked onto his stomach up for grabs on eBay after the player announced a loan move to Rovers' League One rivals Oldham Athletic yesterday.

And bids for the tribute had reached nearly £8,000 this morning - although it seems unlikely anyone will be stumping up for the signature which Neil had etched onto his body last July.

Under the heading "Curtis Main tattoo for sale" on the shopping website, Mr Taylor wrote: "One careful owner. Only six months old. FREE crushing sense of disappointment included."

It added: "Buyer must collect from Doncaster, buyer is responsible for all collection costs." It also said the signature would "suit and Oldham Athletic fan."

Some of the post is too graphic to describe in a family publication but the listing concluded: "All proceeds from this sale will be entered into my Thailand preseason tour fund. I'm hoping the gentle touch of a seasoned Thai Lady Boy will be enough to wipe away the bitter tears of regret."

This morning, the top bid for the tattoo was £7,900 - with the auction due to close in a week's time.

Main has joined Oldham on loan until the end of the season.

Main, 23, has scored once in 14 appearances for Rovers this season and joined Doncaster in July 2014 from Middlesbrough.

It is not the first time a tattoo has landed a Doncaster football fan in hot water.

Last year, Jonno Scott posted a picture on Twitter revealing he had had the words “Gary Lineker Sh*gs Crisps” tattooed onto his bum.

The offbeat phrase first came to popularity at the Glastonbury Festival after a flag sporting the message was spotted in the crowd.

Scott tweeted Lineker a picture of his derriere with the caption: “Hi Gary I’m a massive fan of yours.”

But swiftly regretted the decision and later tweeted: “I regret that tattoo already ffs.”
