Darren Ferguson’s side are now seven points from safety in League One with only six games left to play.

There was a familiar name on the scoresheet for Oldham as they beat Swindon 2-0.

Rovers striker Main made sure of the win as he grabbed the second goal, his first for Oldham in his 11th appearance since he switched on loan from the Keepmoat in February.

Main’s loan has proved a controversial move as Rovers have become embroiled in the relegation fight.

A clause was inserted into the striker’s loan deal which said he would have the final call when it came to any early return to Rovers.

With game time limited at the Keepmoat since Ferguson’s arrival, Main opted to remain with Oldham, pitting him against Rovers in the battle at the bottom.

Victory for the Latics saw them move six points ahead of Rovers but remain in the relegation zone, a point behind 20th placed Blackpool.

Oldham still have one game in hand over Rovers and will face Barnsley at Oakwell next Tuesday.
