Rovers have signed former Manchester City midfielder Abdul Razak until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

Razak joins on a free transfer from Greek top flight OFI Crete whom he joined in August after an unsuccessful stint at West Ham.

Boss Paul Dickov said: “He could play anywhere in the middle of the park be it a two, three or a diamond.

“His physicality is very good, he doesn’t mind a tackle.

“But he’s got a great range of passing as well. He’s very confident on the ball and we feel he’ll complement the midfielders we’ve already got.”

The 22-year-old could be in line for his Rovers debut on Tuesday night against Notts County, provided his international clearance arrives in time.

The Ivory Coast international started his career as a trainee with Manchester City, managing five Premier League substitute appearances.

After loan spells with Brighton, Portsmouth and Charlton he switched to big spending Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, for whom he featured in the Europa League until financial difficulties at the club saw him moved on.

He joined West Ham a year ago but failed to make an appearance for the Hammers.
