Doncaster residents urged to walk for a world without dementia

A memory walk to help people with dementia and their carers is being organised in Doncaster as part of Alzheimer's Society's biggest annual fundraiser.

The event arranged by Enioluwada Rhoda Oluwajoba will take place on August 12, 10am, in Doncaster town centre.

“We need people to join us and together, arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will walk for a world without dementia,” said Enioluwada.

Enioluwada, 22 of Doncaster was inspired to host the walk after seeing it on the television advert and realised there wasn’t any walk in Doncaster.

She said: As a carer working with people with dementia, it is often distressful seeing an assiduous person lose their sense of identity. Even more distressing for their family. Knowing that the possibility of anyone having dementia is quite high is disturbing. So join us in supporting a dementia free world. and I wanted to do something to fight the condition whilst walking with others who truly understand.

“Raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society is a vital way of supporting people living with this condition, and I hope that our contribution will help fund research into better treatments. I’m also a keen walker in whatever the weather, and would love to see us come together for a common cause. I would encourage you all to put a couple of hours’ time aside to join me for this lovely event – the more the merrier.”

Enioluwada’s Memory Walk takes place in Doncaster town centre starting at 10am.
