Doncaster resident's anger over police and council's failure to respond to crime complaints

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of being ‘targeted,’ says crime in Warmsworth has become so bad that they are now afraid to leave and return to their house.

They say the vast majority of incidents take place at Warmsworth Park, often rerferred to as the Quarry Park by people in the area, and that incidents taking place there can range from anything from drug dealing to off-road biking.

The resident says they have continued to report criminal activity taking place in the area to Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Police and even the region’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, but says neither agency has attempted to tackle the ongoing issues.

They said: “There are constantly large groups of about 20 people congregating and smoking and selling drugs, but the police won’t do anything about it.

“When I call them they won’t even come out to see what’s going on.

“They are there at the park until about 11pm and then they come back at like 1.30am in the morning.

“They are so noisy too, they’re always shouting really loudly and playing loud music at all hours.

“It’s becoming a nightmare to live here. I’m afraid to leave the house in the morning, but then I’m also afraid to come back to it because I don’t know what will be going on here when I do.

“I know that they’ve been targeting people’s houses too, pelting them with eggs and things. I just don’t think the police or the council care, they never do anything and the problem just continues getting worse.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police confirmed they are aware of crimes reported to be taking place in the Warmsworth area, and are working with Doncaster Council in response.
