The man mountain has previously told the Free Press about his lifetime ambition to lift the title of Britain’s Strongest Man.

Regarded as a prodigy in the sport, the former Serlby Park School pupil burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old - standing 6ft 4ins tall and weighing 23 stones - when he broke the under 18 British record for combined weights on his South Yorkshire Unequipped Open debut.

This year’s Doncaster strongman competition was expanded to include a women’s category.

A spokesperson for the New Bodies Strongman Club said the competition was made “bigger and better” to “reflect the growing interest in the sport.”

Spectators were also invited to take a look around a range of stalls on the day and there was also a whole host of mini-competitions to keep the crowds entertained.
