Generous members of a Doncaster community group have donated £1000 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The Doncaster Went Valley Lions Club handed over the cash in the form of a large cheque to a representative of the hospital’s charity at Sprot-brough Country Club on Friday, February 27.
Additional funds were collected during a race night held at the venue after the presentation.
The bulk of the money was collected when club members took a sleigh around the streets of Doncaster over the festive season while asking people to make donations.
The money has only just been handed over after members finished collecting in all of the sponsorship.
Club members chose to support the charity after the grandchild of one of the club members received treatment at the hospital.
The club used to meet at the Co-op Club in Brunel Way in the town centre but now meet at the Owston Park Lodge in Doncaster Road, Owston, on every second and fourth Monday of the month.
Meetings start at 8pm and new members are welcome to attend. For more information visit www.doncasterwentvalleylions.org.uk
