Kye Patterson, 29, of Safron Drive, Doncaster and Dayvian Enoe-Nelson, 30, of West Hendon, London, were driving a BMW X5 on 11 October 2023 when they gained the attention of officers on patrol on Alexandra Road in Balby.

First alerted to the poor state of their vehicle, officers carried out further checks which identified links between the vehicle and drug supply in the Doncaster area.

Upon opening the passenger side door, the officers were greeted with a strong smell of cannabis which enabled them to search both Patterson and Enoe-Nelson under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Both men were found in possession of cannabis and Enoe-Nelson was also found in possession of a clear bag containing white and brown rocks, now known to be the Class A drugs crack and heroin.

A burner phone and cash were found in the centre console of the car, and examination of the mobile phone led officers to identify messages further linking the pair to drug dealing.

Both men pleaded guilty last Wednesday (21 February) and further appeared before Sheffield Crown Court yesterday (26 February). Patterson was sentenced to four years and four months in prison, and Enoe-Nelson was sentenced to four years.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Joshua Heath said: “Officers’ acted on their intuition and incidents such as this show that routine traffic stops often uncover evidence of wider criminal offences being committed.

“The sentencing of Patterson and Enoe-Nelson will further disrupt drug supply in Doncaster and putting these two behind bars has had a profound impact on drugs reaching the streets.

“Drugs ruin lives and have links to organised crime and exploitation. We are committed to protecting vulnerable people and will continue to tackle those responsible and put them before the courts.”
