Doncaster crash victim remembered with memorial gala

Thousands of pounds have been raised for charity through a gala to mark the 18th birthday of a Doncaster school boy killed in a horror crash.

The gala held in memory of Blake Cairns, who was one of five Doncaster school friends to die in a horror crash in November 2014, raised more than £4,000.

Held at Grove Park in Wheatley Hills on Saturday, the hundreds of people in attendance at the gala were able to enjoy a wide range of attractions and entertainment including a fancy dress competition performances from singers and dance troupes and various stalls.

The gala was held on Sunday - the day before what would have been Blake’s 18th birthday - and organiser Karen Westwood described it as a ‘fantastic’ day enjoyed by all.

She said: “It was a really enjoyable day, with people coming from the ages 0-90.

“Thoughout the day there was tones of laughter, joy and tears.
