Clynton and Claire begin their marathon week.

A dedicated duo are set to complete a gruelling challenge this weekend - after taking on a staggering eight marathons in just one week.

Charity workers Clynton Johnson and Claire Bull will complete their punishing schedule ahead of Doncaster Rovers’ fixture against Oldham Athletic at the Keepmpoat Stadium this Saturday - having completed a total of 210 miles on foot and bike over the course of the week.

The Marathon Madness event is aimed at raising money for Doncaster Cancer patients.

Clynton, 38 and Claire, 42, will have completed four by foot and four by bike by the time Saturday’s fixture comes round.

Starting on Monday, the pair kicked off their gruelling challenge by foot, starting and finishing at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The route would saw them head out around the Lakeside and towards Old Cantley, Blaxton, Austerfield and Bawtry before heading back towards Doncaster centre, Thorne Road and eventually head for the Keepmoat finish line.

The couple’s aim is simple - to raise as much money and awareness as possible for local cancer charity, The Eve Merton Dreams Trust, a charity that raises funds for Doncaster’s terminally ill cancer patients, to answer a dream, grant a wish or do anything to help both patient and family smile during a time they need it the most.

On top of that the charity has dedicated to donate 50% of all funds raised to the family of local school teacher Lewis Siddall who sadly lost his life following an incident in a Doncaster town centre bar in August this year. Lewis had recently raised £707 for the charity himself in May of this year as part of the annual Charity Legends Football event.

Clynton said, “My inspiration throughout training and the event and always been the families I’ve had the privilege to meet during my time with the charity. What I will go through during this event will be nothing compared to their personal battle”

The event will come to a triumphant finale inside the Keepmoat during the Rovers vs. Oldham pre-match build-up on Saturday.
