A narrow boat on a Doncaster area canal was set on fire early today.

Fire crews from Thorne and Doncaster were called to Hall Lane, South Bramwith, just after 1am and found the boat drifting on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal.

They used hooks to bring it to the bank and doused the flames using buckets of water.

There was nobody on the boat at the time.

It is believed the arsonists cut the boat from its mooring after starting the fire.

Firefighters were also called to Princes Avenue, Stainforth, ay 2.30am when a BMW car was torched.
