Members of a charity singing troupe could be set for TV stardom after they were invited to audition for the new series of Stars In Their Eyes.
Singers who perform as Dearne-based Stars In Our Eyes were contacted by the show’s producers and asked to record audition tapes ahead of live auditions in Manchester before the end of the year.
A number of group members, including Alisha Scothern, of Bolton-on-Dearne, as Lady Gaga, and Naomi Rigby, of Wombwell, as Dolly Parton, have pledged to strut their stuff in front of judges.
Group organiser Yvonne Rufus, 59, of Scott Avenue, Conisbrough, said: “The producers rang us up and asked if any of our members want to audition.
“We’ve filmed one minute segments of our members singing their songs at the Denaby Main Institute last night and sent them in. All being well we should be asked to auditions and who knows they might get on to the show.
“It is very flattering but we have some great performers. It’s great that some of our group might get the chance to show what they can do in front of TV cameras.”
Producers have not said where or when the auditions will take place as yet.
The Stars In Our Eyes group formed in 2001 and performs in pubs and clubs across the region, raising around £750, 000 for charity in the process.
