Danum Eagles land wins in league and National Shield

Danum Eagles had a productive weekend as they maintained their perfect start in NBL Division Three and also reached the third round of the National Shield.

Ross Stafford’s side made it three league wins on the bounce with a 90-70 win at Sheffield Saints on Saturday.

The following day they knocked early Development League leaders Gateshead Phoenix out of the Shield by winning 104-85 in front of their own fans.

Eagles pair Mathew Martin and Oliver Hylands dominated the boards at both ends in Eagles’ well deserved win in Sheffield, while youngster Liam Knapp continued his impressive form in the senior team in Sunday’s cup victory.

The Doncaster club, going in search of back-to-back promotions, are one of three teams to have won their opening three league matches.

They will now host Myerscough College in the third round of the National Shield.

Eagles host Leeds Force Academy at Danum Lower School on Saturday (2pm).
