Curly's Athletes, of Doncaster, sets up Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice virtual fundraiser

Curly’s Athletes, of Doncaster, are a collection of amateur and professional athlete’s, coaches and sport industry experts who feel the world can be a better place through racing and training in sporting events.

A Doncaster family supported by Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is asking people to take on a brand new ‘30 Miles in 30 Days’ virtual challenge this autumn, organised through curlysvirtualathletes.com site.

Jodie and Warren Bostock, from Cusworth, who have visited Bluebell Wood with their son Daniel since 2016, are the first to sign up for the new virtual event this October.

The challenge is for people to walk, jog, run, wheel or swim miles in 30 days from 1 October to help raise money for children and young adults whose lives are just too short.

Entries for the challenge are open now at www.curlysvirtualathletes.com/bluebell-wood where people will be able to create their own fundraising page, raise sponsorship for Bluebell Wood and be part of an online community of runners during the challenge.

The 30 mile distance was chosen after the charity found out just how much walking parents and carers of children with life-shortening conditions do, whether they’re going to appointments or getting up for their child several times a night.

Sally Baker, Community Fundraising Manager, Bluebell Wood, said: “We decided to ask our families how far they walk and discovered they do an average of 30 miles a week. We thought challenging people to do the same distance over 30 days would be a great way to raise funds.

Mum, Jodie Bostock, along with husband Warren, urged people to take the 30 miles in 30 days challenge to help the Bluebell Wood Hospice charity and the grateful mum added: “For us to come to Bluebell Wood to have fun rather than end of life care is amazing.”
