Witnesses to alleged sex assault sought

POLICE are appealing once more for information about an alleged sex assault that took place at Bolton.

The incident took place on Sunday, May 15 at around 2am when it is believed a local woman in her early twenties was walking along Wath Road on to Ingsfield Lane, when she was grabbed and pushed into the Mansion Fields Park area and sexually assaulted.

Police have new DNA evidence that is thought to be that of the offender, and are seeking further information in a bid to quickly eliminate people from the investigation.

It is believed that the woman put up a fierce struggle and bent the offender’s finger and bit him on the left cheek.

Her attacker is described as a white male, in his early twenties, and of a muscular build with short dark hair.

Police would like to appeal for witnesses or to anyone who may have noticed a friend or partner with a facial bite mark and, or injuries to his finger.

It is believed the woman alerted a passing witness on a bike, who then accompanied her back home. Officers would like to trace this male, as he may be crucial to the investigation.

The male witness is described as being white and around 17, with blond, curtain-style hair.
