Warning over fake £10 notes in area

POLICE are warning Dearne shopkeepers to be vigilant after a reported increase in the number of forged £10 notes being used in the Barnsley area.

Sergeant Derek Barker said: “We would advise shopkeepers to thoroughly check all notes of this denomination before accepting them.

“The metal thread running through the note shows as a broken line when held up to the light instead of a solid line.”
