South Yorkshire man arrested after taxi driver sustains head injuries in serious assault

Police have arrested a 20-year-old South Yorkshire man following a serious assault on a taxi driver in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred at around 3.10am this morning (Saturday, October 3) when it was reported that a taxi driver, a 40-year-old man, was seriously assaulted on Campbell Drive in Herringthorpe, Rotherham.

The 40-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are at the scene and are appealing for anyone with information to contact 101 quoting incident number 178 of October 3 2015.
