Police to target criminal damage

OFFICERS have promised to carry out more patrols to combat criminal damage and anti-social behaviour following a successful operation.

Police covered hot-spot areas across the Carr Hill Road and neighbouring parts of Balby in a bid to tackle issues that residents said were priorities.

Officers on foot, in cars and on bikes provided a high-visibility presence for members of the public throughout the two-day operation.

Arrests were made including a 24-year-old man who was charged for theft and bailed.

Officers also raided a property in King Edward Road where £200 worth of cannabis plants were discovered.

A man was arrested and fined £80 for personal possession of cannabis and had his motorbike seized which he had been using illegally on the road, confirmed a police spokesman.

A further 14 people were stopped and searched and alcohol was taken from young people drinking in the streets of Balby.
