Police in Doncaster are appealing for information following a town centre theft.

On Monday, 1 April, at around midday, a 61-year-old woman was in Marks and Spencers on Baxtergate.

While she was trying shoes on in the clothing section, she placed her handbag on the seats.

She then continued shopping in the store but had not picked up her handbag.

At some point, it is believed another woman came and sat on the same seats, picked up the handbag and went upstairs in the store.

The handbag was later found in the store’s toilets upstairs with £70 missing.

Police would like to speak to the woman in the picture as she may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone who knows the identity of the woman or has any information is asked to call the police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55111, quoting crime reference A/29700/2013.
