A woman was stamped on by a robber as he snatched her bag.

At around 5pm on Sunday, 16 February, the woman was walking along Haynes Road in Thorne.

As she reached the junction of Haynes Road and Haynes Grove, a man on a black mountain bike rode past her.

The man then turned round and came back towards her on the bike.

He is believed to have grabbed her handbag, causing her to fall on the floor where he is alleged to have stamped on her leg and kicked her in a bid to release her grip on the bag.

The man then rode off on his bike with the woman’s bag towards Miller Lane. Fortunately the woman did not sustain any serious injuries.

The man is described as around 25-years-old and white. He is approximately 5ft 10ins tall, medium build with brown hair. He was wearing dark coloured trousers and boots and a waist length coat that was elasticated at the bottom. He was also wearing a dark coloured hat with a peak.

Anyone who believes they have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the man on his bike or know his identity is asked to call the police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 824 of 16 February 2014.
