Police arrest after search for Doncaster gunman


A man has been arrested in connection with two armed hold-ups at shops in Doncaster yesterday.

Police were called to Lifestyle Express, Rockingham Road in Wheatley, at 3pm yesterday following reports of an armed robbery in which cash was stolen.

Armed police cwere drafted into the Wheatley and Town Fields area before officers were called to a newsagents in Beckett Road, Wheatley, at 7.25pm following another report of an armed robbery.

Staff were threatened with a firearm and cash was again stolen. Nobody was injured during the incidents.

A 39-year-old man was arrested this morning in the Wheatley area on suspicion of robbery and will be questioned by detectives today.

Officers are still trying to trace a second man in connection with the robberies.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with light hair around the sides and balding on top. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and blue jeans.
