Man must stay cooped up in shed, says court

A Doncaster man has been condemned to live in a shed for another six weeks.

Mark Vardy, aged 45, applied to Doncaster magistrates to vary the conditions of his bail, which prevents him from living at his house in Wembley Road, Moorends, because of an alleged domestic assault.

His solicitor, Jason Newall, told the court he had been living in the shed at his parents’ house since last week and had spent four days in the same clothes. Mr Newall said his partner, Julie Hughes, who he is accused of assaulting, had moved to Leeds.

But the prosecution opposed the application - and the magistrates told him he had to stay away from Moorends until the trial in March.
