Huge convoy of police cars captured on CCTV during dramatic street chase in Doncaster

A convoy of at least nine police cars was captured on a CCTV camera in Doncaster during a pursuit in the the town.

A Balby resident whose camera captured the police chase on Springwell Lane at 3.45am yesterday has shared a section of footage online showing nine cars travelling in convoy with their blue lights flashing.

Eight were marked police cars and one was an unmarked police vehicle.

The woman said: “Four cars had already sped past before this lot.

“I know weekends are terrible but never seen this many go past at once.”

Officers mounted a police chase when a car, which had been spotted speeding, failed to stop for officers in the Dryden Road area of Balby at 3.30am yesterday.

The police pursuit ended in Edlington, where a 20-year-old suspected drug dealer was arrested.

South Yorkshire Police said: “A vehicle reportedly failed to stop for police after it was seen driving at speed in the Dryden Road area of Balby, Doncaster.

“A number of police cars engaged in a pursuit of the vehicle, believed to be a Seat Ibiza, which travelled into the Edlington area, where it stopped.

“A 20-year-old Doncaster man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. He is currently in police custody.

“Nobody was injured during the incident.

“It is understood that two police vehicles sustained minor damage.”
