Former Doncaster doctor charged with sex assaults

A former Doncaster doctor is due to appear in court later tomorrow on sex charges.

Andrew Johnson, aged 60, of Station Road, Bawtry, have been charged by South Yorkshire Police with with eight counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

The alleged assaults are said to have taken place at a doctor’s surgery on Station Road in Bawtry over a period of 26 years, from 1980 to 2006, while the accused was a GP there.

A police spokesman said the alleged assaults were on nine women, who were aged between 14 and 49-years-old at the time of the incidents.

Johnson has been ordered to attend Doncaster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning for a preliminary hearing.

Police also issued a statement saying: “Anyone who believes they may have information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 197 of 12/04/2013.”
