Police netted thousands of pounds worth of drugs and made numerous arrests during raids across Mexborough and Conisbrough.

Officers swooped to recover £6,000 of cannabis and £2,000 in cash from four addresses in a day of action.

They also found drug related items and arrested five people.

Acting Sergeant Martin Maw, of Mexborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, told a Partners and Communities Together meeting in the town that drug offenders had nowhere to hide.

He said: “This was part of Operation Arrow and each month police choose one town to flood the area with resources.

“We had extra police on patrol. We recovered drugs from each address so this was a successful operation.

“Such operations will continue and if anyone suspects drug dealing or drug taking please report it.”

The properties police swooped on last Thursday were at Hollingworth Close, Belmont Street and Spencer Street in Mexborough, along with Moat House Way in Conisbrough.

Sgt Maw added after the meeting none of the five people arrested had been charged as yet and investigations were ongoing.

The next PACT meeting will be held at Mexborough Resource Centre on August 15 from 6.30pm.
