A drug dealer has been jailed for eight years after police raided his home and found 18 wraps of heroin.
Andrew Bell, aged 40, of Brameld Road, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, was convicted of being in possession of the Class A drug with intent to supply.
Officers raided his home on Monday, February 4 and found the heroin.
Four days later police in plain clothes spotted Bell about to carry out a drug deal on Dale Road, Rawmarsh.
When searched the officers found another seven wraps of heroin.
PC Brett Thompson, from Rawmarsh Safer Neighbourhood Team, who arrested and charged Andrew Bell said: “I am delighted with the result. I hope this sends a message out to anyone else who thinks that dealing drugs in the streets is acceptable.
“It also shows the courts take the matter seriously with the length of this sentence, which is wholly justified.”
Sergeant Bill Bell said: “We receive information during our weekly Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings directed to us from members of the public about a variety of matters.
“Often the public don’t think we do much about the problem. However this goes to show with the help from the public we can get great results.
“On this occasion it has taken a long time to catch Mr Bell, but the effort has been worthwhile.
Bell has also been evicted from his council property due to his drug use.
