Doncaster thug jailed for assaulting and threatening his partner's father

Sheffield Crown Court heard on April 22 how Jason Brodie, 30, of Marson Avenue, Woodlands, Doncaster, struck his partner's father to the face so hard he fell and suffered a fracture and bleeding on the brain and needed two months of hospital treatment.
Nick Adlington, prosecuting, said after a dispute with his partner her father had visited the couple’s home in May and Brodie struck him causing him to fall and hit his head on a concrete surface.

Hide AdMr Adlington added the same complainant saw the defendant with his daughter and he passed a key to her when the defendant threatened to knock his head off.
Brodie also attended the complainant’s home in November demanding money and his phone from his partner and he insulted and threatened the complainant.
The defendant pleaded guilty to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and to two counts of using threatening behaviour.
Cheryl Dudley, defending, said Brodie has alcohol issues and there had been some animosity between him and the complainant.

Hide AdJudge Sarah Wright said there was a confrontation between the defendant and the complainant and they had both been drinking before the defendant struck the complainant.
She told Brodie: “You are very fortunate he recovered from those injuries because the courts see many such cases of assault which cause death.”
Brodie was sentenced to 22 months of custody. He was also given a five-year restraining order to keep away from the complainant and his wife.
