Dog found strangled in woods

A black, male Labrador has been discovered dead in a woodland after being strangled using a lead and two branches.

The abandoned dog was found by a dog walker in Womersely, Doncaster, on Friday 22nd July, however it is thought he was killed up to three days earlier.

Inspector Jo Taylor from the RSPCA said: “This dog was deliberately killed and we want to know who by.” She says that, as he was a large dog, it will have taken a lot of effort to kill him. It has also been suggested that there was probably two people involved in the incident.

The RSPCA say that they are relying on the public for information, as the dog, who was thought to be old due to white flecks of hair on his muzzle, wasn’t wearing a collar and wasn’t micro-chipped. He was wearing a red and black striped collar with a silver swivel hook.

Anyone who has saw anything suspicious can contact the RSPCA 24 hour cruelty helpline on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for inspector Taylor.
