Crackdown after Balby vehicle crime spate

Police have carried out car checks in Balby following concerns about vehicle crime in the area.

Officers checked more than 200 vehicles in Earlesmere Avenue, St Johns Road and Albany Road and discovered two were left unsecure. Residents had raised concerns about the level of car crime at a recent Partners And Communities Together (PACT) meeting.

The Balby and Hexthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team, led by sergeant Lynne Lancaster, urged residents to make sure their vehicles are locked. Officers will meet residents again this month to decide if it should remain a priority.
