Investigating officer PC Racheal Croft said: “A group of women boarded the service at Doncaster. Once seated, they found themselves opposite a group of football fans, one of whom started acting in an intimidating manner towards them. Another woman asked him to leave the group alone. At this point, he became aggressive and began shouting abusive language at them. As the train reached Scunthorpe, and the man, who was with three others, was about to leave the service, he threw several playing cards at one of the women hitting her shoulder. Once on the platform, he continued shouting abusive language at the woman through the window.”

Officers believe the man in the image could have vital information that could help with the investigation, and urge him or anyone who recognises him to get in touch to assist officers with their enquiries.

PC Croft added: “Behaviour like this will not be tolerated. This was a frightening experience for the group, one of which was an elderly woman, who were returning for a pleasant day out. Everyone has the right to travel without fearing for their safety or being subjected to abuse.”
