Three people have today been arrested in connection with a spate of robberies at convenience stores across the Dearne.
Two men, aged 34 and 28, and a 32-year-old woman were arrested after officers executed search warrants this morning in Highfield Road, Swinton, and Hawthorne Road, Wath.
They were all arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in police custody to be questioned by officers.
The first robbery was reported on Tuesday, January 6, at Blaney’s newsagents in Highthorn Road, Kilnhurst, at around 8pm. Police said two men armed with a gun entered the store and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Days later, on Friday, January 9, police said a man armed with a firearm allegedly robbed the Mighali convenience store in Claypit Lane, Rawmarsh, at around 8.15pm. The intruder made off with money.
An attempted robbery was reported on Saturday, January 10, at the Londis convenience store on Church Street in Swinton at around 9.05pm. A man is alleged to have entered the store armed with a gun but left the scene empty handed.
