Two people were transported to hospital after a hit and run in Doncaster town centre this weekend.

The incident involved a man and a woman who were both taken to hospital after they had been hit with the car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at 5.21am yesterday (25 July) to reports of a hit-and-run in Doncaster town centre.

“A car had reportedly collided with two pedestrians in East Laith Gate, before leaving the scene.

"The victims, a man and a woman, were both transported to hospital.

"Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“Enquiries are now ongoing to trace the driver involved.
