Crews continue to battle huge Doncaster blaze as road remains closed

Crews have spent more than 15 hours at the massive inferno which has ripped through Morris Metals in Balby Carr Bank.
The fire broke out alongside the East Coast Main Line in Doncaster last night and firefighters have spent the night tackling the fire, which could be seen from up to 50 miles away at its height.

Hide AdHowever, seven crews still remain at the scene with work on bringing the blaze under control expected to go on throughout the afternoon.
In its latest update, a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters have been working really hard overnight to tackle the blaze in Balby
“Seven fire crews and an aerial appliance still remain at the scene.”
Balby Carr Bank is closed at the junction of Woodfield Way to enable firefighters to work at the scene and people have been told to stay away.

Hide AdPeople living and working in the area have been told to keep doors and windows closed and drivers have also been told to keep windowns closed and not to use air conditioning.
Traffic on the nearby M18 and the East Coast Main Line has not been impacted. It is not known at this stage how the blaze started.
