COUNCILLOR Pat Knight, ward member for Hatfield, is holding an Open Garden in aid of the civic mayor’s charity, Aurora Centre, this Saturday.

The event will be opened by the civic mayor, Councillor Eva Hughes.

Coun Knight and her husband, former councillor and civic mayor Ken, have been tending to their garden for almost a quarter of a century.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the lawns, sweeping flower beds and ‘secret garden’.

Coun Knight said: “We’re both keen gardeners and are looking forward to sharing our passion for horticulture with local people.

“We will also be having a raffle, tombola and plant sale for visitors to enjoy.”

Coun Hughes said: “I am delighted to see Coun Knight opening her wonderful garden to the public in aid of this good cause.

“I do hope lots of people come and support the Aurora Centre which cares for local people with cancer.”

The event is taking place at 238 Broadway, Dunscroft, DN7 4HT between 11am and 5pm. Entry is £2 . All proceeds will go to the Aurora Centre. For details contact Coun Knight on 01302 840810
