The increasing number of users of drones - an unmanned aerial vehicle - has led to Epworth Town Council to issue a press release about the correct manner in which they should be used.

Council chairman, Councillor Tim Mitchell, said: “The town council has been made aware of a number of residents’ concerns about people flying drones equipped with cameras low over houses and gardens.

“Whilst there are legitimate reasons for flying camera equipped drones, the council urges the users to respect the privacy of their neighbours and not use the drones in an anti-social manner or cause a nuisance.

“The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advises that, as a general rule, camera equipped drones should not be flown within 150m of a congested area - unless the user has CAA permission. The CAA suggests that anyone who has concerns about nuisance, privacy or safety of drone use to contact local police on 101.”

The Drone Code states users should keep a satisfactory distance from other people and their property, they should always be kept in sight and they cannot be flown over 400ft.
