Dunsville WI monthly meeting is at Dunsville Community Centre on Tuesday April 12 at 7.30pm.

The speaker will be Mrs Janet Lee, who will demonstrate chair exercises. All visitors welcome.

St Edwins Church in Dunscroft is holding an Easter service for children and parents on Good Friday April 22, 10-10.45am, to welcome the new priest, Father John Tallant, all are most welcome. Refreshments will be available after the service.

A WELL attended Coffee Morning was held by the members of the Saint Cuthbert’s Restoration Fund on Saturday. The winner of the Easter Bonnet Competition was Mrs Eileen Purcell whilst the children had also made great efforts with their entries and were awarded a host of prizes. The winners of the raffle were white ticket 206 Mrs Benford, green 135 Mrs Robinson, white 249 Harold Whitehead, white 269 Mrs Noble, green 107 Mrs Bowden, green 48 Mrs Sheppard, white 193 Sarah Williamson and white 259 Rev. Eve Atherfold.

Fishlake’s festival committee will be holding an open meeting in the Village Hall at 7pm, April 13. Groups wishing to apply for funding from the proceeds of last year’s festival need to apply in writing.

Winding up the church clock throughout April will be Councillor John Waite.

New members and newcomers to bowling are welcome to join the Bowling Section of the Cricket Club whose season starts on April 17. Rehearsals for ‘Barrage, Balloons and Bisto’ (A Second World War Revue) are going well.

The coffee morning last Saturday, April 2, raised £279.67 for Action for Children. Many thanks to all who helped in any way.

The coffee morning this Saturday, April 9 will be for the Premature Baby Charity BLISS a very worthwhile charity as these babies need a lot of care.

The preacher on Sunday April 10 will be Mr David Hepworth from Adwick-le-Street.


How nice it was to see Stainforth Cemetery on Sunday morning- re Mothers Day, it was very busy with family members laying tributes to their loved ones on this special day.

The cemetery gates are closed at 7pm Monday to Friday and 6.30pm at the weekend.

I have just received news that the Easter Fair organised by Stainforth Town Council to be held in the Resource Centre on Church Road on Saturday April 16 is now due to open at 11am to 2pm. Sorry for the inconvenience it is beyond the Town Councils control.

St Mary’s Parish Church visits and service at Oldfield House and Dr Andersons Lodge on East Lane at 2pm and 2.45pm on Monday May 9.

The Childrens Society Boxes were opened and £307.95 was collected.

Coffee Morning held in the Barn raised £270 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice who are setting up a support group in Hatfield with a meeting at the Barn on Monday April 18 at 7pm.

The Friends of Hatfield Church Building Trust are holding a pub quiz at the Bay Horse on Monday April 11 at 9pm.

Parochial Church council have received a grant of £22,212 from the Building Trust to pay for the work done on the North aisle roof and West window. Approval was given to the Barn management committee to increase the fee for rental of the Barn to £15 for two hours.

Coffee Morning in the Barn on Saturday, April 9 will be in aid of Scouts.

The Hatfield Village Plan Group have announced with the help of all the village they have been able to secure around £10,000 of lottery funding to develop a plan for Hatfield which is expected to go out in June.
